Do you know how all kinds of people go to the same school?…well, that wasn’t the case at all in the 50s. That is until Ruby Bridges came along, she went to a school for white people despite challenges and improved education for all.
Ruby Bridges was born in Mississippi in 1954.
She moved to New Orleans. She went to a white school, where people threw things at her and federal marshals walked with her to school and despite the challenges she faced, she refused to let it get to her
She improved education for all African Americans by going into a white school
This was because she was determined to not give up and provide better education for the future generations.
Ruby Bridges is considered a hero for her perseverance and dedication to education of herself and the future generations. We can learn from Ruby that enduring hardship is important if it means ending unfairness.
