Sammy sosa

by Rivera from Houston

My hero is sammy sosa.he was born on november 12,1963 over there in san pedro demacaris, a city of about 125,00 in the dominican republic. he has dignity and he is always respectful to everyone including himself

His father, juan montero, died when sammy was five years old his mother, mireya made a living by selling food to factory workers. sosa has two sisters a four brothers, including a younger brother jose antonio, who played for the chicago cubs in the minor leagues

They grew up in a two bedroom apartment that had once been part of a public hospital. he grew up very poor. to help his mother make ends meet. sosa sold orange, shined shoes, and washed cars in the streets of san pedro for the equivalent of nickels and dimes

At age 16, barely able to speak english, sosa signed with the texas rangers and was given a bonus of $3,500, most which he handed over to his mother. with the small sum remaining he bought his first bicycle

Twice as a chicago cub he had achieved baseball's 30-30 a which means hitting 30 home runs and stealing 30 bases in the same season. i think about his education that he did not get education because he never went to school. but his mother educated him and told him the good things and the bad things i guess his biggest challenge to learn my how to play baseball in the U.S.A.
