Soft strength

I drew my grandpa because he is a very important part of my life and he inspires me to be strong and persevere when things are rough. When I was young I saw my grandpa once a week, if not more, and although there is a language barrier between us since he speaks Cantonese and I speak English, he has always been kind to me and taken care of me. My grandpa is extremely strong both emotionally and physically. He came to the United States alone with practically nothing and worked hard so he could give my family a better life. Even though his health is in decline he still wakes up early every morning to work out and fish. Now that he is older and I don’t see him as often, I worry that he will eventually forget me, but every time I see him he gives me a big long hug. When I am discouraged or frustrated with myself I remind myself that I am strong just like him and that I can persevere.
