Stephen King

by John Klein from Edmonton, Canada

My hero

A grade ⅚ class project

My hero is  Stephen King. He is a horror author. He wrote some popular  books such as The Shining, The Dark Tower series, and It. He has wrote over 54 books and over 200 short stories. Some of his short story collection books are The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, The Mist, 1408, Four Past Midnight, and Mile 81. He is my hero because of his great books that I cannot seem to stop reading. My favourites are The long walk, The Stand, and The Shining. He was born on September 21st, 1947, in Portland, Maine. His father, Donald Edwin King, worked as a sea merchant, and his mother, Nellie Ruth was a housewife. Stephen King  married a woman named Tabitha Spruce, and had 3 children, 1 girl, 2 boys. Their names are Naomi King, Joe King, and Owen King. Stephen King stayed close to home, and attended the University of Maine, earning a degree in English in the progress. He tried to become a teacher in the year 1970, but he didn’t succeed. He found a job at a laundry service. He would often write short stories in his spare time, but he stopped in 1971. Stephen King had found a job as an English teacher at Hampton Academy. A little into the year, he married another writer named Tabitha Spruce. Around 1973 he published his first real book, Carrie. The story is about a girl who gets revenge on her classmates. It was a huge success and, because of its recognition, he was able to switch to a full time job of writing books. Sometimes, Stephen King would publish under the alias of Richard Bachman. He did this because he was afraid that the publishers wouldn’t allow him to publish### so many books in such a short period of time. His books however, when discovered that Richard Bachman was actually Stephen King, sold even faster, because of how well known and how loved he is, and how good people know his books are.

Stephen King continues to write great books, and his work is greatly known. I hope you read some of his books, and if you do, you will enjoy them!
