The amazing speaker Martin Luther King Jr.

by Adam Sampson from Brooklyn, New York in United States

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." (Strength to Love, 1963)

Have you ever thought about what it was like to live in the 1950’s? Well it would look very different, signs for colored and white people and people protesting all around. But one person stands alone, Martin Luther King Jr. he led the activists to end segregation and made the world a much better place.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 and grew up in Sweet Auburn, Atlanta, Georgia. Living in a segregated world Mlk Jr. was gifted and went to college at 15. He was sick and tired of segregation and started groups and leading people in the civil rights movement for the rest of his life.

Martin Luther King Jr. improved the world by standing up as one of the civil rights leaders. He stood up to fight against segregation and peace, which led to him leading protests and making one of the most historic speeches called I have a dream, which gave millions of people hope and drove the world to reduce segregation.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a determined and brave man for standing up against threats and segregation. Which is why I look up to him for teaching me to stand up and fight for what is right in the world.
