Dan Eldon was a photojournalist, artist and activist, killed on assignment in Somalia. His illustrated journals reveal a passion for art and respect for Africa
Dan Eldon visited Nelson Mandela's Cell 5 in Soweto and was profoundly influenced by it.
He loved Africa and this self portrait places him inside the prison cell where he recalled the life work of South Africa's famous freedom hero, Mandela himself.
