Kasturba Gandhi was an Indian activist who greatly impacted India with her contributions to India’s independence. She was born on April 11, 1869 in Porbandar India. Throughout her life she participated and led movements related to India’s civil rights, immigrant treatment issues, and the safety of women. She showed great bravery and resilience throughout her life by persevering and continuing to serve her country through illness and persisting even after being jailed multiple times throughout her life. I picked Kasturba Gandhi as my hero because of the determination she exemplified throughout her life. Kasturba Gandhi established the Phoenix Settlement in South Africa even though she was suffering from chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. Additionally, she participated in multiple protests which she was imprisoned for but continued to fight for what she believed in. Kasturba Gandhi taught me to keep advocating for what I feel is wrong and make my voice heard, no matter what. Overall, Kasturba Gandhi had a strong impact on my life because of her perseverance through the hardships she faced in her life.
