A hero is someone who is a role model, a person who people will look up to. A leader could be described as a hero—someone who stands up for what he believes in. A hero could also be someone who will do whatever it takes to help someone. Selfless would describe a hero because a hero thinks of others before himself. A hero is someone who puts his life in danger to rescue others. A hero is respectful to people and he is also respected. A hero is someone who people can trust, someone who is loyal. A hero could be anyone; a hero doesn't have to be somebody famous. He could be a normal person who just did a courageous act. Anybody could be a hero. My hero is my dad’s friend Trevor Williams. Trevor Williams lives in Montreal. He was on the Canadian Olympic basketball team about 15 years ago.

He is my hero because during the week, he runs a program. In his program, he helps poor kids who cannot afford to go to school. He teaches those kids how to read and write. He also teaches kids ways to improve their education. He teaches kids who are between six and 14 years old. He is doing this because he wants to help kids who are not as fortunate as us and he wants them to get a better education. That was a heroic act because he is giving up his own time to help others.

Also, during the summer, he runs a basketball camp. At his camp, he gets parents to sponsor underprivileged kids. He is doing that to get kids off the streets.

Trevor Williams makes a difference. Now instead of kids being on the streets all the time, they are either at Trevor's camp or program during the week. By doing that, he makes a big difference. He helps a lot of underprivileged children and he's doing the right thing. I think that he is a hero.
