Ulysses Grant did become a president and a general even though he grew up as a poor farmer he helped win the civil war as a general and stopped a terrorist group as a president even though he faced political corruption and financial problems. He was born in 1822 as a farmer he then went to military academy he tried to get married but the Mexican-American war got in the way he was kicked from the war because he drank to much he then got married but he was separated from his family for a long time and struggled to get a job eventually he became a general in the civil war and helped win the war he was then elected president in 1868 and was re-elected in 1872 eventually he died of cancer in 1885 he is heroic because he helped win the civil war and disbanded the kkk which was a major terrorist group because of his bravery and leadership many more things would be wrong today Ulysses s grant was a good person because of his bravery and perseverance to do the right thing and hopeful we can share those traits when we need them.
