Vegeta

by Andrew from SunValley

The person, who became my hero and has inspired me, is not from our reality. He’s a cartoon! He is part of a Japanese anime, which is called Dragon Ball Z. His name is Vegeta from the planet Vegeta. What makes him my hero are is struggles to be the best fighter in the universe. He undergoes many hardships to become just that. I relate to him because I also want to be the best at everything I do. Vegeta’s will power also amazes me. He goes beyond normal boundaries to bring himself to another level of power. The power of willing your self to never give up is one I wish I had more. What makes him my hero, most of all, is his resilience to losing; he never allows his loss to bring him down. Instead he does the opposite; he becomes stronger. I strive to do just that with my life so I can learn from my misfortunes.

His struggles were what caught my attention; he never had it easy. An example of a hardship he faced, was that he was one of the last two remaining of his kind. Imagine being the last one of your family, no one to be there to help, to teach or even to love you. The fact the he taught himself to survive after all that shows how strong he is mentally. I feel his “Demons” are nothing close to mine. This shows me, that in my life, no matter how hard it might get there is always someone who has it worse. A value that can often be forgotten instead of being taken advantage of.

The power to have total control over your mind can be what makes you become a force not to be taken lightly. Vegeta’s will over himself can never be matched by anyone else. There were often times he trained for months before a fight. He trained vigorously night and day to be able reach outside of normal physical strength. No matter how much it hurts his commitment to his training is never questioned; to be the best you must pay the price. In a magic chamber he trained under one hundred times earth gravity to allow him to become faster than anyone in the entire universe. He struggled for a long time until his body finally adjusted. Knowing that to quit would end any chance of becoming the best; he trains even harder taking his body to the limit and back. There are often times that in sports, athletes are taken to that point to bring out their full potential. When I was playing football whatever the coach asked of me I would do: knowing that it might hurt opens new physical abilities in me .

This level of mentality is not in everyone. It’s special to be able to feel your body grow strength in areas never felt. Vegeta lets me see the best in others and me.

There was always someone stronger; someone he had to surpass. For example, Vegeta’s first encounter with a superior being was with Goku. He was known as the greatest fighter on earth. Their first fight Vegeta is unprepared and loses in the most disgracful way. Rather than giving up and lose everything he knows, he leaves and promises that the best fight Goku will ever have is the next. He trains in a magic chamber for months and leaves a new man. His body is reshaped and tuned to its finest. Wasting no time, moving at the speed of light, he engages in a fantastic fight. The fight is felt through the entire universe. Both their energies are beyond compare but with a powerful blow Vegeta drops Goku to his knees. Vegeta wins! A true fighter learns from a defeat. A normal person would have taken that defeat and stayed there; I believe who ever wants something so bad they can obtain it. He opened my eyes to a whole new way of thinking. Vegeta taught me to become better you must learn from your falls.

So all in all, Vegeta’s way of living has affected mine in a dramatic way. All he’s faced leaves me with a sense of gratitude towards what I have. His will power strengthens mine by showing me that there are ways to better one’s self but it takes time and commitment. Yet the most important value he taught me was it is alright to lose but get back up; a person can only lose to himself. I go one hundred percent at everything I do now because there is no reason to go less. I try to live my life with an attitude to always improve myself, thanks to Vegeta
