After the divorce, his father remarried, came back to the states and took Hines to Louisiana, where he was "dumped on his grandmother, Martha." Hines' mother was very sad when Hines was taken away from her. She wanted Hines Ward back in her responsibility so she worked really hard. In 1983 she won back custody for Hines Ward.

However, Hines Ward was upset because of these events happening to him. He barely even knew his mother. So he decided to make his mother's life a "living hell". In 1986, Hines' mother couldn't handle Hines anymore so she sent him to his father and his third wife. Hines father was a really mean, disrespectful, and stern father. He punished Hines frequently and Hines was changed. When he returned to his mother that fall, he finally noticed the sacrifices that his mother made.

From that point forward, Hines was never ashamed of his mother and never disrespected her. Hines Ward then joined his high school's football team and went professional. He became MVP in Superbowl XL and now is one of the most famous wide-receivers in the NFL.
As you can see, Hines Ward was a man with a very frustrating childhood. He thanked his mom when Hines Ward became MVP. Hines Ward inspires me to love my parents and respect them no matter what.
