World Alzheimer's Day

21st September

More than 55 million people worldwide live with Alzheimer's and other dementias

World Alzheimer's Day, which takes place every Sept. 21, is a global effort to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Find out more from the Alzheimer's Association.

Ways to Participate
  • Wear Purple: Purple is the official colour for Alzheimer's awareness; many people wear purple or use purple ribbons to show solidarity.
  • Share Stories: Use hashtags like #WorldAlzheimersDay and #WorldAlzMonth on social media to share personal experiences or educational infographics.
  • Join a Memory Walk: Many local chapters host Memory Walks or webinars during September to fundraise for research and support services.
  • Education: Learn the early signs of dementia—such as memory loss, confusion, and mood changes—to help promote early diagnosis in your community
