you are your own hero.

to most people, a hero is someone with an s on his chest, wearing a cape,

and flying over the skyline of a town watching over its people.

but to me, those only exist in a fairytale world, living alongside princesses and unicorns.

i see a hero every time i look in the mirror.

and no, i don’t mean to put myself on a pedestal.

i just think that we, as human beings, are all heroes.

each of us should see a hero when we look at ourselves, because that’s who we are.

every moment of our lives, we are faced with battles.

some of which, only we and we alone can fight in.

every day, there is a dark place we wander into.

escaping that place makes us stronger than any comic book hero.

every page of the book of our lives is filled with lines that are difficult to understand.

if we find a way to decipher them, we save ourselves from missing the point.

there are a lot of rotten, wilted sunflowers in the flower field we play in every day.

if we rip them out of the ground, we will finally have a clear view of the field.

sometimes, even looking at your own reflection can be a challenge.

but if you tell yourself i am a hero

and if you actually believe it, it will eventually come true.

then you will have done the most heroic thing possible.

you will have saved yourself from you and your thoughts.

the moral of these words is

you are your own hero.

only you can save yourself from situations that are truly difficult.

don’t look for a hero in other people.

you have been through so much in your life.

surviving that and still fighting the things that are here now

and the things that are to come

makes you a hero.

it makes you the hero superman dreams of being.

it makes you the only hero that should matter to you.
