Have you ever imagined walking through four states barefoot? One person did and his name was Johnny Appleseed, my hero. Johnny’s real name was John Chapman and he was born on September 26, 1774. John traveled for forty years, and died at age 72, by Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Johnny did good deeds for people and was considered a hero. He was also a hero for the Indians, he was a medicine man to them, and gave them life [it seemed] to the sick. Johnny’s life was long and hard, but in the end it all paid off, he was a hero.

All Johnny’s childhood he watched apples grow and picked them. When John saw them grow he became inspired to help nature and was very happy. He picked apples for his large family and for health. That is a reason his life was admirable.

Johnny’s contributions for people was large, he planted orchards of seeds in places hand by hand. He gave everyone he met [including Indians] appleseeds and saplings for forty years. He also helped build houses of wood.

Johnny Appleseed died on March 18, 1845 near Fort Wanye, Indiana. After he died, scores of legends were told about him although none are proven true. Johnny was a great man and is still today, that is why he is my hero.
