Jacques Yves Cousteau

A hero possesses many different qualities such as honesty, inspiration, and devotion. Heroes are kind and are suited to be very good role-models. A hero does not do a deed to help just one person, but does a deed for everyone. Heroes can be a young or old, different skin color, or not even human. Heroes are ordinary people who do extraordinary deeds. Jacques-Yves Cousteau was famous to many people in France as a marine biologist.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau was born in Saint Andre de Cubzac, France on June 11, 1910 and died on June 25, 1997. He was a well known marine biologist. Cousteau once said, "Sooner or later man will live under water and work there." Cousteau invented the First Scuba A.K.A diving device A.K.A. the Aqualung which lets divers breathe air that is in tank on their backs. His rank was Capitaine de Corvette in the French Navy in 1948. In 1950 he commanded the ship Calypso. Also in 1957, he was the head of the Conshelf Saturation Dive Program (CSDP) experiments in which some people live and work for a long time under water along the continental shelves.

Jacques Cousteau helped other people learn more about the sea and sea creatures. Cousteau also wrote a few books like ‘The Silent World’ published in 1953, ‘The Living Sea (1963). He was one of the first to make underwater photography (in color of course). Also he invented the process for using television underwater. Jacques Cousteau has made films that include ‘The Silent World” released in 1956, ‘The Golden Fish (1959) and ‘The World Without Sun’ (1964) which won Academy Awards. But he was most known for his Emmy-award winning T.V. Series, ‘The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau' which premiered in 1966.

Jacques -Yves Cousteau was an intelligent dreamer. He was an intelligent dreamer because he invented inventions no one else probably could. He was also selfless; he showed the world what the ocean looks like. Cousteau was kind and honest. He made T.V. shows, movies, books, and inventions for other people. Jacques Cousteau had many different good qualities that make him a hero.

In conclusion, heroes have many good qualities such as intelligent, devoted, and they are good role-models. Heroes do deeds to help everyone not just themselves. Heroes are ordinary people doing extraordinary deeds. Jacques Cousteau was a famous marine biologist (and many other jobs that he did)in France. Cousteau is a great hero.
