The Man on the Moon

3! 2! 1! Blast off! Have you ever heard off Buzz Aldrin? He was born on January 20th, 1930 in Montclair, New Jersey.  He is still alive today! He still lives in New Jersey.  Read on to find out more about the man on the moon!

A Very Accomplished Man

On July 20th, 1968, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first 2 people on the moon. Neil Armstrong was just ahead of Buzz. They both soared through space in Apollo 11. Buzz Aldrin was in the U.S. air force before he went to space. He flew in 66 combat missions in the Korean War. Wow! He really served his country! He was also the prime pilot on Gemini 11. Some obstacles he had to overcome were that he had to try out with many other people and he had to go through difficult training. It's not easy to go to space!

An Interesting Character

An interesting fact about Buzz Aldrin is that he put a plaque on the moon for all the aliens to read. He was also not afraid of aliens according to Answers.com. That is a reason to describe why one of Buzz's character traits is intrepidity. The nickname "Buzz" originated in his childhood. The younger of his two elder sisters mispronounced "brother" as "buzzer", and this was shortened to Buzz. He made it his legal first name in 1988. A character trait of Buzz is determination. He shows this because he stuck to his goal to be an astronaut. Another character trait he shows is valor. He shows this because he goes into space despite the danger. Q: What is Buzz Aldrin's favorite dance? A: The Moonwalk!

Buzz, Buzz, Buzz!

Now you know all about Buzz Aldrin. You should see why I think of him as my hero; he has helped our country in so many ways! He led the earth to where no man had gone before!
