Guru Vishnu Mathivanan

Guru Vishnu Mathivanan is an young environmentalist, eco hero who started his own environmental awareness program "Global warming awareness motto - Saplings donation, plantation and delivering awareness education activities" from the age of four. Now he is studying 8th grade in Edison G Agoram Memorial School, Manalur, Chidambaram which is 40kms from Mayiladuthurai in India. I met him when he came to our college five years ago to deliver an awareness education speech about global warming and climate change in our NSS program.

He is important to me because he differs from other children in his community. He is fighting against global warming and trying to change his environment to green, clean. His motto is Green, Clean and Peace Everywhere. He is donating saplings and short term vegetable seeds packets to the poor ones, students to promote tree plantation. He also planted more than 80000 saplings. He addressed more than 200,000 students, public in his awareness education. He is using his handmade charts, drawings, PowerPoint, skits, animations and short movies for his environmental education. He also stresses economic education and the importance of financing, along with his environmental activities. He updates his knowledge by attending many national and international conferences.

He has been honored for his activities and won many rewards and awards which motivate other children in our community and they also started to do environmental activities successfully. Now I and my entire family are involved in environmental activities.
