My hero is Gherman Titov. He was a Soviet cosmonaut. Gherman Titov was the first man who made a long space flight. Gherman Titov was the second cosmonaut after Gagarin. He was born 11 September 1935. He became the youngest astronaut in history.

German Titov finished the military aviation school of pilots. In 1960 he was in the squad of cosmonauts. On 6 and 7 August 1961 German Titov performed a space flight. It lasted 1 day and 1 hour. German Titov managed to make 17 turns around the Earth, flying more than 700 thousand kilometers. At the time of the flight Gherman Titov was 25 years old. He became the youngest astronaut in history. He died 20 September 2000 from a heart attack.

Gherman Titov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, two Orders of Lenin, and numerous medals and foreign orders. On 6 August 2011, the 50th anniversary of Titov's flight, the reconstructed and expanded Gherman Titov Museum was opened in his native village of Polkovnikovo, Altai Krai.
