He was the third child in his family out of seven kids in his family. When Harry wasn't very old his dad left to find a home in America. His mom was left pregnant. Harry's dad had a friend in Wisconsin and Harry's dad stayed with his friend. He took a job as the rabbi for a congregation of fifteen Jewish families. When Harry Houdini started he did coin tricks. He came to the USA and settled in Wisconsin.

Harry Houdini had some challenges and obstacles. Some of the problems he had were his family holding him back. They held him back by discouraging him from becoming a magician. His parents wanted him to go to school and get a good education and steady job. Another of the challenges he faced throughout his career was practicing tricks every day to just get to know them. His other obstacle that Harry had was the crowd sometimes made him nervous. Many magicians tried to copy Harry. They tried to perform escapes like his. They also used names like Harry Houdini. Harry's imitators included Hougini, Coutini, Kleppini, Harry Rudini, and Harry Mourdini. Harry disliked his imitators. He tried to shut down many of their acts. But Harry approved of one copycat - his own brother, Theo. Theo performed as Hardeen. He attracted copycats of his own. One of them called himself Hardini!

Harry Houdini did some things for the community and for others. He amazed people with his magic. Another thing he did for the community/ for others was he chose volunteers for his magic shows. He taught people to never give up and believe in their dreams.

Harry has a lot of qualities and traits. One of them is being helpful. He worked hard to support his family. Harry always found jobs to earn money. Another one of his traits is being energetic. Harry Houdini ran, boxed, and swam. He enjoyed sports. The last quality trait he had is being generous. Harry bought a house in New York City. The house was big enough for Harry's mother Cecilia, his brother Leopold, and his sister Gladys. He was proud to provide for his family.

There are many fun facts to share about Houdini. First, Harry could hold his breath under water for at least three minutes! In one of his tricks, called The Water Torture Cell, Harry hung upside down by his ankles in a giant tank full of water. His arms were locked by chains. He stayed under water for three minutes as he worked his way out of the chains. Harry called himself the King of Handcuffs. Harry's style is he wears a suit bow tie and vest. He was helped out with an assistant. His assistant was also involved in some tricks like the curtain trick. Like most magicians Harry hides his secrets carefully. Some people say his methods may never be known. For example, no one knows exactly how the Upside Down trick worked. We know that Harry studied handcuffs carefully to learn how to escape from them. For his jail breaks, he sometimes hid a key in his hair or in a false sixth finger. Sometimes he secretly cut the laces of a strait jacket. In milk can escape, the can appeared securely shut to the audience. In fact, the neck of the can was not fixed to the rest of the can. Harry jumps into the Charles River in Boston. The shocked reporters wrote about Harry's escapes in their newspapers. Harry loved the attention. It helped create interest in his shows. Harry found a new, dangerous way to stir up interest in his shows. He stood on a bridge and allowed himself to be handcuffed. Then he jumped into the water. Nervous crowds of people watched. Soon Harry's head bobbed up. He waved his hands. He was out of the handcuffs! The crowds cheered wildly

An important lesson any other young person and might learn from the way this person lived is to keep your promises. He kept his promise to his dad that he would take care of his family. Some of the things he did for his family are he worked really hard to get money from his job. He also supported them by giving them money. As you can see, Harry Houdini is a great magician.
