Hiroshi Yamauchi was born in Japan on November 7, 1927. At the age of six, Hiroshi’s father Shikanojo abandoned the family. After being abandoned, Hiroshi was then raised by his grandparents until the age of twelve. In 1940, Hiroshi being twelve years old, couldn’t fight during the World War 2, so instead he worked in the factories. When Hiroshi became seventeen he attended Waseda University where he majored in Law. Four years later Hiroshi’s grandfather, Tei Yamauchi, was the President of Nintendo and had a sudden stroke. Hiroshi then had to fill his grandfather’s place as President of Nintendo. Tei Yamauchi died shortly after Hiroshi replaced him.

Hiroshi Yamauchi is a hero to me and many others because he was one of the first to create a game system. Nintendo’s first product called the NES was created in 1983. A game system that everyone loved and remembers, Nintendo is still today one of the top leading games in America. Hiroshi believed that a game system should not be expensive because people played the software, not the actual system itself. Many people were entertained by Hiroshi’s Nintendo games.

Over one hundred and seven games were created by Hiroshi, games like The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario brothers and Mario Kart. Many of those games are my personal favorites. He developed many different games to give America a variety of entertainment to choose from. Also when Pokémon first became the biggest craze, it was Hiroshi that made Pokémon possible. Pokémon was originally a playing card game and then slowly moved onto electronics. Hiroshi was again my hero because he made everything more modern and fun. He created games that I had always played when I was younger.

Thanks to Hiroshi games are now portable. The “Game Boy Pocket” which is the improved version of the “Game Boy”, it was created in 1996 made it possible for people to play their games while on the go. The “Game Boy Pocket” is very popular device; it outsold the Nintendo 64 in 1997 and ended up selling over ten million product. Thanks to another invention by Hiroshi.

Hiroshi is a hero to me because he brought a new entertainment to America. He gave the world a little more imagination. Hiroshi had the ability to make things fun. He worked very hard on his products to give people games worth paying for. With the help of Hiroshi, Nintendo expanded to become an international product. Hiroshi’s games have brought lots of excitement and joy to me and the world.
