Sir Edmund Hillary was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1919. He grew up in New Zealand. He was famous for being one of the first men to climb Mount Everest. He also wrote two books. He was a bookkeeper. He looked unsuccessfully for the Abominable Snowman.
