Jay Norwood Darling is my Hero. He was the founder of The National Wildlife Federation. An organization committed to teaching people about wild life.
Jay Norwood Darling was born in 1876, in Michigan. He started college at Yankton, He was later dismissed. He then went to Beloit College in Wisconsin. He planned to study medicine but instead he studied life science. Jay liked drawing cartoons. Jay’s first job was at the Sioux City Journal. His job was drawing political cartoons. He wanted to work there to earn money for medical school. Jay became good at drawing cartoons. He forgot about medical school. Jay then worked for the New York Herald Tribune. Jay’s political cartoons soon appeared in over 130 daily newspapers. Jay became a friend with Franklin Roosevelt due to his political cartoons. He authored two books. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1923 and in 1942.

He started cartooning about national wild life issues. He was chosen by Franklin Roosevelt to serve for the Wild Life Restoration. Jay accepted the job. Later he was offered a job as head of the biological survey in 1935. He accepted the job. Under his guidance, the Duck Stamp Act of 1934 was developed. Due to his artistic talent he got to design the very first stamp. Jay Norwood Darling died in 1862 at the age of 86.

Jay Norwood Darling is my hero because he was the founder of The National Wildlife Federation. The National Wildlife Federation is still running today, informing people about wild life and more. You can donate to The National Wildlife Federation online. Jay is an earth keeper because he helped wildlife. He also helped nature. He helped global warming, too.
Jay Norwood Darling was a great cartoonist and he created The National Wildlife Federation, a non-profit organization committed to informing America about wildlife.
