Michael Flatley

Michael Flatley was born on July 16,1958 in the US to his parents Michael and Eilish Flately. Michael has four siblings and is the second oldest out of the five. His mother and grandmother were both champion Irish dancers. At age 11 Michael took his first dance lesson. He was sent home after his first lesson but kept trying. At age 17 he was the first American to earn the title of All-World Irish Dancing Champion from the US. Michael decided to open up a dance school. He was unsuccessful and closed it. Then, he began as a professional dancer with a group but then started his own show called “Lord of the Dance”. Michael Flatley became the world’s first internationally recognized Irish dancer.
