How Wangari Maathai Inspires Us

Kayla
Wangari Maathai was a big inspiration to people in Kenya and she is a big inspiration to me, too.  Wangari Maathai did things for other people. She did not do anything for herself.  She did what was right and stood up for her people.  She made the country a better place for them to live in by planting trees.

Amie
I think Wangari Maathai was amazing.  She followed her dreams and she was a leader. Everyone should follow her example because she felt she could do anything and that gave her power.  If you say "I can't," you will never be able to achieve your dreams.  If you say "I can," you can do anything you want because you have that power in your brain.  What really amazed me about Wangari Maathai is that no matter what anyone told her, she continued to do good things and nothing could stop her.  She didn't listen to anyone's bad words.  She just kept on going to achieve her dreams of a greener world filled with trees.

Lyndsey
Wangari Maathai inspires me because she was able to change the world by just planting trees.  She was amazing and her power was so amazing.  I just wish I could have that power because she didn't fight with weapons, but she fought with words and good deeds. Wangari Maathai spent her life helping the environment.

Leksa
Wangari Maathai wanted a green environment.  She gave her life for green land.  I think they should not have taken her land for construction.  People should not fight her.  They should join her.  They should plant a special tree and name it Wangari in her honor.

Breanna
Wangari Maathai was an inspiration for speaking up for others.  She spoke up for her people and she spoke up for the environment.  She loved nature and she gave her life to protect nature.

How We Are Similar to Wangari Maathai

Leksa
I am like Wangari Maathai because I love planting and taking care of our school garden.  I am also like her because I am brave and I stick up for what I believe in.  I love farms and she grew up on a farm.  I love nature, too and I take care of the environment like she did.

Lyndsey

I'm like Wangari Maathai because I like nature and I like planting trees, flowers, and plants. I also enjoy walking through the woods and looking at the trees.  I'm also like Wangari Maathai because I help anyone who needs it and I'm always inviting.

Breanna
I am like Wangari Maathai because she loves nature and she believed that it is our responsibility to take care of the environment.  I do, too.

Kayla
I am like Wangari Maathai because I am curious and I like to spend a lot of time outside exploring like she did.
