Wilbur Wright was one of the people that invented the airplane. He was born in Millville, Indiana. He was the third sibling of four others. His older siblings were Lorin and Reuchlin and one twin Katharine and one younger brother named Orville. They got the idea of their plane from a little toy made of paper that you shoot with a rubber band then flies. They also got inspired by the man who made the kite that you hang on to. His name was Otto Lilienthal so they thought they would make a glider that you turn with your body.

Wilbur Wright excelled at school. When he graduated high school he wanted to go to college but he had the incident of his mom dying and him getting injured by getting hit in the face at an ice skating game so he was laid out for two years.

But before the Wright brothers even made the glider they read books about human flight and whenever Wilbur saw a book about anything to do with flight he read it. Two years later they made their glider that could be operated and could fly for 39 seconds. The next year they improved their glider. They improved it more the next year and in 1904 they made the first motorized plane and accomplished their goal. Wilbur died in 1912 of typhoid fever. It was a sad day for Orville so he retired and sold their company.

Why Wilbur and Orville Wright are heroic is because they risked their lives test flying the airplane so other people would get inspired to build the jet plane and fighter jets to help us in war and they're the reason we have these things, all thanks to the Wright brothers.
