Wilbur Wright

by Scott from Wayne

Do you now invented the first airplane? That's Wilbur Wright. He was born April 16, 1867 in Millville Indiana. His brother Orville and he opened a bike shop in Dayton, Ohio. While working in the bike shop one day, Orv and Wilbur thought if they would make a plane. First they made a glider and flew it. Then they made the 1900 glider in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and after that they started putting a motor on the glider. One day in the bike shop a box fell and twisted like a bird so they put a lever on the glider and called it the flyer 3. First Orv flew it for 12 seconds then it was Wilbur's turn and he flew it for 42 seconds! Soon after he went to France and flew for millions of people! He flew for millions of people! He was in the air for 32 minutes. They kept on making the plane better so they could fly for hundreds of miles. They felt like birds flying in the sky. But sadly they couldn't live forever Wilbur died three days after. He had a heart attack on May 30, 1912 when I was only 35. But now the 1903 glider is in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. for all to see!
