Congratulations to "A Walk Through the Land of a Thousand Hills"! It was awarded Best of Fest at the 2020 MY HERO International Film Festival. This film is a journey through one of the most biodiverse and beautiful places on the planet: Nyungwe National Park. Twenty-five years after the devastation of the Rwandan Civil War, the park is now one of the best-conserved montane rainforests in Central Africa. We are guided through the forest by a native park ranger named Claver Ntoyinkima. As Claver walks through the forest, we uncover the origins of his conservation values and the history of an ecosystem that survived one of Rwanda's darkest periods.
The film was directed and filmed by Chema Domenech, a graduate student at Montana State University, and made in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board.
The film also won 1st place in the Environmental category because of its strong emphasis on conservation.
