When Jane grew up, she went to a place called the Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania in Africa to study real chimpanzees. She watched them in the wild and saw that they acted a lot like people! They would give each other kisses and hugs, and even tickle each other.

Back then, most girls did not do science. But Jane didn’t give up. Her mom told her she could do anything she wanted to do. Jane kept learning and went to a very good school called Cambridge to study animals.
