Wu Tsang is a Chinese American artist.
Duilian (2016) is a film by Wu Tsang. It is a reinterpretation of the life of Chinese poet and historical hero Qiu Jin. Duilian centers the story on Qiu's relationship with her close female friend Wu Zhiyin. History books and narratives hold great details about Qiu's life as a martyr who fought to end the monarchy and Wu is always described as Qiu's important friend but without further information about their relationship as lovers. This film is about Qiu and Wu's love, the poems they wrote for each other, stories of love and desire between women hidden from history.
