Poet and playwright, she was the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.
Also known by the pseudonym, Nancy Boyd, this Vassar College graduate won the Frost Medal in 1943 for her lifetime contributions to poetry. She was the sixth recipient and only the second woman to receive that honor.
