In academic year 2002-2003, teacher Isabel Eccles wanted to develop a project that would enable her Cambridgeport School (Cambridge, MA) 5th and 6th grade students to integrate academic and artistic disciplines while mastering state-of-the-art technology and media literacy skills. That year, the school’s History/Social Studies curriculum was focusing on American history between the colonial period and the Civil War. So, Eccles devised a Macromedia Flash-based multifaceted process to produce the animated movie, Molly Bannaky: A History of Black and White.
