Have you ever been to a national park or even thought about going to one, well that’s most likely possible because of the efforts of John Muir. Later in his life he was one of the founders of the Sierra club which has helped to protect and create many different national parks. |

John was born in east Dunbar, Scotland 1838 early in his life he and his family moved to a farm in Wisconsin, 11 years later he attended university of Wisconsin until 1863. After leaving he soon embarked on a lifelong journey of wilderness exploration, walking thousands of miles and exploring and sharing his love for nature. |

Muir's most famous accomplishment happened later in his life when he had settled down in California and became an activist for environmental preservation; he then went on to co-found the Sierra Club, a club that has helped to protect national parks. Muir even served as the president of the group for roughly 20 years. All of this shows that Muir is incredibly tenacious, even going as far as to fight against the government just to preserve the nature that he loves so much. |
