Did you know that there was a double agent in WW2 that was so successful that he was given an award by the allies and the Nazies even though he worked for the British? His name was Juan Pujol Garcia and is known for his clever and smart moves to give false information while keeping trust.
Juan Puyol Garcia was born on February 14 in Barcelona. He was the youngest of 4 siblings. He then served in the Spanish revolution. In 1941 Juan Pujol Garcia decided he wanted to help the allies stop the Nazi, so he created a fake pro-Nazi identity that he used to join the Nazi. They then assigned him to create a spy ring in London. He moved to Lisbon and read books about London to make fake reports to the Nazi about new spy members. As he kept giving the Nazi reports, the British intercepted a message and believed it, they then sent a MI6 spy hunt for him. Then he decided to make fake reports about MI6 leading some real Nazi spies to get captured. When the MI6 realized he wasn’t a threat he approached them an asked them to join them he continued to give the Nazi false reports for the British. A few years later, in 1944 the allies decided on a large scale attack on the Nazi in occupied France and launched D-day. A vital part of the plan was for high ranked Nazi officials to believe the attack to be in the Strait of Dover when it was actually on the Normandy beaches. Juan Pujol Garcia was key to the plan, and successfully convinced the Nazi that the attack was going to happen in the Strait of Dover. leading d-day to be more successfull.
In conclusion, if Juan Pujol Garcia didn't step in, WW2 would most likely have not ended the same way. His bravery and willingness to take life threatening risks make him a world hero.
