About the MY HERO Learning Circles
The MY HERO Global Learning Circles is a global storytelling pathway in partnership with iEARN (the International Education and Resource Network)
Students everywhere know someone whose courage deserves to be seen. MY HERO helps them tell that story with care.
The next session of the MY HERO Learning Circles will start in September 2026
Last day to register is TBC
During the program students identify heroes in their communities, learn media arts and digital storytelling skills, exchange work with classrooms around the world, and create stories, films, art, or audio projects that may be submitted to MY HERO for publication review and festival consideration.
Past sessions of the Learning Circles include teachers from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Senegal, Taiwan, Poland, Mexico, Slovenia, Ukraine, Iran, Moldova, Tunisia, Romania, Georgia, Algeria, Canada, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Pakistan, Sierra Leone and South Africa.

The Pathways
There are two different pathways to join the MY HERO Learning Circles:
Celebrating Everyday Heroes and Call to Action:
Students identify and honor their local or global heroes and create a project to submit The MY HERO Project for publication review and contest consideration. They can then go on to connect their hero stories to civic action and positive change in alignment with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
MY HERO Film Festival Jury Lab:
Students watch a curated selection of short films from the MY HERO International Film Festival, discuss what makes a story powerful, and share their response with classes from around the world.
If participating through iEARN
The MY HERO Global Learning Circle is a partnership with iEARN and provides a structure for students around the world to connect work on projects as a team. For more information and registering for the MY HERO Learning Circle, log into your iEARN account and click here.
Teachers and Students Around the World Have Participated in the MY HERO Learning Circles
MY HERO Learning Circles brings the world into your classroom and your classroom into the world. Use this link to learn how teachers and students from around the world collaborate and learn about each other, each other's cultures, communities and of course, heroes. This resource includes art, stories, films and audio that have been created by students from around the world.
"Our participation in the MY HERO Learning Circle has had a tremendous impact on everyone involved. Both my students and I relished the opportunity to collaborate with our international peers. It was very meaningful for students to be engaged in a sustainable development project with classes on the other side of the world. Fostering such connections help students grow into global citizens by encouraging them to investigate the world, consider others' perspectives, and communicate their ideas effectively. Today's youth will ultimately be responsible for the sustainability of our planet, and their experience with the MY HERO Learning Circle has nurtured the knowledge, disposition, and skills that they will need to be true changemakers."
