Natalia Estemirova was a Human Rights Activist and Journalist who investigated and reported on hundreds of cases of kidnappings, torture and extrajudicial killings by Russian government troops and paramilitaries inside Chechnya. Natalia refused to be silent in the face of growing danger as more than 20 of her fellow Human Rights Journalists were murdered and still Natalia spoke up loudly and continued to be the one voice reporting to the world from within Chechnya. On July 15th, 2009, Natalia Estemirova was abducted and murdered.
