Corals are slow growing and vulnerable to pollution, sedimentation, and warming ocean temperatures. NOAA and the National Park Service are creating a geo-referenced coral reef base map to better understand coral reef dynamics and processes. The maps provide a better understanding of the reefs so they can be protected and restored.
