Terry Fox

Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg,Manitoba on July 28,1958.Terry lived in Port Coquitlam,British Columbia.Terry was a member of the the Simon Fraser University,where he was studying Kinesiogoly.In 1977,Terry found out that he had Oestrogenic Sarcoma(which is a rare type of bone cancer).It was a big blow to Terry when he found out that he had to get his leg amputated six inches above the knee.While Terry was recovering he came up with the idea for a ''Marathon of Hope'', which was a cross Canada run to generate publicity and raise money for cancer research.On April 12, 1980 Terry Fox started his ''Marathon of Hope''in St. John's Newfoundland.After 143 days of running,he ran a total of 5.375 kilometers world wide.He raised $1.7 million.Canadians donated an additional amount of $23 million to his found.When cancer finally claimed his life in 1981,Canada lost a hero,but the Terry Fox ''Marathon of Hope'' lives on.

Terry fox was a very independent person.He came up with the idea for the ''Marathon of Hope''.He ran across Canada by himself with a prostetic leg to raise money for cancer resarch.It didn't matter to him how bad the weather was he went out and walked.He raised $1.7 million dollars for cancer research.

Terry was a strong willed person.He was determined to raise money for cancer research and run across canada.Nothing stopped him not even is amputated leg.When Terry was recovering he still played sports.He played wheel chair basketball.His amputated leg didn't stop him from anything.

Terry is a good role model.When times got rough he never gave up,he just kept on going.People could learn alot from Terry.He was a very kind and generous person.He inspired millions of people world wide to raise money for cancer research.Terry Fox is a true hero.

In conclusion Terry Fox is my hero.He's an independent strong willed person.He is a very good role model.He has all the traits of a hero.I hope everyone after reading this, will see him as I do,a true hero.Terry is an insperation to us all.He is very kind hearted,and raised lots of money for a very good cause.Nothing would stop Terry not even his amputated leg.
