Description

The Brown and Beatific Face of Ishrat Zahan explores one young Bengali woman’s journey with make-up and how she uses the skills she has to maneuver the microaggressions and racially charged experiences that come with being a woman of color in America. This film highlights the intersection between sexism and racism by showcasing the role of utility that beauty plays in Zahan’s life and how the manipulation of the commodity of beauty is sadly essential to surviving in a Eurocentric society.
