Description
More than half of young adults with autism remain unemployed two years after high school, and nearly half of all 25-year-olds on the spectrum have never held a paying job.
Chef W. Reith and special education professional, Allison Kolanko, are working to address that at Not Your Typical Culinary Academy in Gilbert, Arizona. The academy is a 12-week job training program for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, free of charge for the students and their families through Vocational Rehabilitation for the state of Arizona.
This short film takes a look as the program's first graduating class works their way through it.
