Chapter 9: Storing and Organizing Files

There is nothing worse than losing footage.

These things can happen, even to professionals. But these steps can minimize the chances that they happen to you.

1. Before you film, check your storage on your camera and/or related data cards.

2. Before and during filming, check your footage.

3. Take notes while filming.

4. Have a plan for what to do if you run out of storage or battery life.

5. After filming, download your footage ASAP! Don’t depend on the cloud.

6. Name your files.

7. Save and organize your files.

8. Back up your files.
