In 2020, writer, producer, director—and longtime PFLAG National collaborator—Nick Oceano-Armendariz (Pedro) connected with filmmaker Stephanie Tran (they/them), a young, queer, Vietnamese filmmaker. Nick approached @pflagwith an idea to mentor Stephanie to tell a story she hoped to share, to amplify and honor #LGBTQ+ #Asian, #AsianAmerican, and #PacificIslander voices. Then COVID hit, and the way films were being made had to change, quickly--putting the project on pause. One year later, in 2021, Stephanie finally brought their vision to life, under Nick's mentorship. "This film," said Stephanie, "is extremely important to me because I hardly ever see myself represented in the media. It is my dream and my life's goal to change that." We are #PFLAGProud to elevate our beloved #AAPI families--and Stephanie's work.
