Wangari Maathai is a Noble Peace Prize winner from 2004 who started a movement known as The Green Belt Movement. This movement was started in order to make a difference by planting trees to help improve the way of life in Kenya. Women were organized into groups and received education to have the skills in order to plant and nurture the seeds of the trees being planted. This movement has transformed the Kenya landscape and offered jobs for thousands of women.
