Bidder 70 is Tim DeChristopher, the student who monkey-wrenched a fraudulent Bureau of Land Management oil and gas leasing auction in December 2008. In February 2009, the new Obama administration retroactively invalidated the entire BLM auction. Nevertheless, DeChristopher was federally indicted, facing up to ten years in prison and $750,000 in fines for his disruption of the illegal auction.
