Collecting Sgt. Dan is about Sgt. Daniel James Patron, USMC EOD tech. Sgt. Patron was killed in action on August 6, 2011 while disarming an IED. The film was created so that brother and filmmaker, Matt Patron, could share the memory of Sgt. Dan with his young children. The film chronicles active duty Marines talking about the hero and his family trying to pick up the pieces in the aftermath. Ultimately, the film serves as Matt Patron's post blast to recover and preserve a memory so that Sgt. Dan's sacrifice is never forgotten.
