Description

Hummingbird is an excerpt from Dirt! The Movie, an insightful and timely film that tells the story of the glorious and unappreciated material beneath our feet. Inspired by William Bryant Logan's acclaimed book "Dirt: The Ecstatic Skin of the Earth" and narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, Dirt! The Movie takes a humorous and substantial look into the history and current state of the living organic matter that we come from and to which we will later return. This segment animates a story from Nobel Prize Winner Wangari Maathai, about a brave hummingbird who struggles to do good while others stand and watch. However, despite their struggles, the hummingbird continues to do the best that they can to save their home from the fire which is what everyone should do in life. The animation in this segment was created by Suspicious Productions's Madevi Dailly and Andrew Fielding.
