MY HERO Celebrates Black History Month. Get inspired by African American Heroes in Sports.
Introduction
African American history began in the immoral practice of slavery. It could be said that Sports has played a special role in African American history in the following era of segregation to integration, because it was often one of the first areas where integration between African Americans and whites took place. The great contributions of African American Sports heroes continues to be a source of inspiration and a lens through which to see the fight for justice play out in United States history.

This wonderful exhibition on the special role of Sports in African American History comes from the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). The NMAAHC is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. It was established by Act of Congress in 2003, following decades of efforts to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans.
