Description
Since the 18th century, Sámi indigenous population have to fight to protect their culture and their lands. Riehpovuotna, known as Repparfjord in Norwegian is a protected fjord in Sapmi lands. Despite lacking legal authorization and breaking many laws, Blue Moon Metals mining company is destroying the local ecosystem and the Sámi fishing and herding activities to extract copper from the mountain. As Norway is one of the two only country in the world that allows deep-sea tailing disposal (disposal of mining waste in the seabed) 30 million tons of waste will be released in the fjord due to the mining activity. This documentary film tells more about the story of the fjord and the mining project going on.
