Site: OKC Abrasevic Youth Center
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Site Administrator: Timur Makarevic

The OKC Abracevic Youth Center had been a community center for over 80 years, but was destroyed during the war. After the war it was reclaimed by a group of activists who were awarded the legal ownership of the bombed-out compound and revived it. There are six stacked containers in the courtyard and four more on the roof of the main building that are used as offices, media labs and even a radio station.

Site: LOJA Center for Balkan Cooperation
Tetovo, Macedonia
Site Administrator: Bujar Luma

"LOJA," in Albanian, means "game," which, according to our Macedonian site administrator, Bujar Luma, aptly describes the spirit of the center where he's the co-director. The center itself is a lively multi-use facility with a great screening room and editing offices.

Site: Martin Luther King Secondary Girls School
Dakar, Senegal
Site Administrator: Cheikh Darou Seck

The Martin Luther King Secondary Girls School was great for our project. It is located in the northern part of the city, near the Great Mosque and the Witchcraft market. The building has a central playground with about twelve classrooms and offices surrounding it. Though there are frequent blackouts in Dakar, the school had an excellent high speed internet connection and a great computer lab. In general, the environment in Dakar is challenging. While we were there, there was a three-day sand storm originating in Mauritania.
